Healthy Food

Healthy FoodFood for thought.

A couple of interesting points about nutrition came up during a lunch with a couple of consultants when I was in Montreal.

  • Potatoes are technically vegetables. Therefore french fries are good for you.

and

  • Do you realize that you get vegetables from your steak? Cows graze, consume vegetables,  so you are actually getting that too. It’s all there somewhere.

Can you think of any other examples?

Your is not You’re or You Are

27 01 2008

I got e-mail today, its subject started with “Your invited to”.

Come on people! I don’t care about this kind of mistakes in instant messaging conversations, but they rub me the wrong way when I see them in e-mails or blog posts. I know people don’t always proofread (I don’t), but these mistakes are not just typos. I think these are result of people not knowing differences between such words or phrases.Grammar

Other examples:

  • then ≠ than
  • there ≠ their ≠ they’re
  • its ≠ it’s
  • sail ≠ sale
  • to ≠ too
  • could have ≠ could of

Another thing I don’t like is when people do not distinguish between “good” and “well”. One is an adverb and the other is an adjective.

Proofread people! Otherwise you look like a fool. At least with blog posts you can edit them and correct the “typos”.

I r is a genius!
